[Learning FLE based on the methods and techniques of critical thinking]
Abstract
Today's FLE teacher is faced with new challenges in terms of teaching, as students have access to all kinds of information, thanks to the Internet. The teacher's current objective is to develop his or her pupils' intellectual capacities and critical thinking in a foreign language. Our article proposes a possible model for critical thinking: Motivation - Understanding - Reflection. Motivation becomes the basis for assimilating new knowledge, comprehension enables information to be actively obtained and reflection aims to summarise and systematise new knowledge. To make the three-phase model easier to understand, we add suggestions for exercises that we use in our classroom activities, for each stage and for each age level of pupils (primary school, secondary school and high school).
